Can I edit a digitally signed or encrypted PDF?
No. Signed and password-protected files are refused. Preserve the protected original and work from an authorized unsigned, unencrypted copy.

How is editor redaction verified?
The editor rebuilds every page from rendered pixels, reopens the result with PDF.js, requires zero selectable text, checks the redaction pixels, and reports a SHA-256 receipt before download. You still need to confirm that every sensitive area was selected.

- Inspect edited text at high zoom for font, spacing, alignment, and missing glyphs.
- Review every annotation, image, signature mark, drawing, and page operation.
- Open the exported copy in a separate viewer and never assume a visual cover provides forensic redaction.

How is editor redaction verified?
The editor rebuilds every page from rendered pixels, reopens the result with PDF.js, requires zero selectable text, checks the redaction pixels, and reports a SHA-256 receipt before download. You still need to confirm that every sensitive area was selected.
- Replacement of existing PDF text is temporarily disabled until its trusted post-mask compositing path is complete. You can still add and edit new text boxes.
- Signed and password-protected PDFs are refused because the editor cannot preserve their signature or encryption assurance.
- When redaction is present, every page is rebuilt as an image. Searchable text, forms, links, tags, scripts, attachments and accessibility structure are not retained.
